The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has issued a penalty to Mr Green, a gambling operator, as part of the regulatory body’s ongoing investigation into the online casino sector. Mr Green will be the ninth gambling business to face action as part of a regulator probe that has led to over £20m in penalty packages since 2018.

The gambling operator will have to pay £3m to the National Strategy to reduce gambling harms because it failed to have adequate procedures aimed at preventing harm and money laundering.

UKGC has examined the actions of 22 individual Personal Management Licence holders in the course of the investigation into the nine most serious operating licences. So far, six operators have surrendered their licences and can no longer transact with consumers in Britain, six received a formal warning, seven were still ongoing, and one received an advice to conduct.

The Gambling Commission Executive Director, Richard Watson said their investigation uncovered systemic failings in respect to both Mr Green’s social responsibility and AML controls which affected a significant number of customers across its online casinos. Besides, he said the consumers in Britain had the right to know that there were checks and balances in place, which would help keep them safe and ensure gambling was crime-free. Watson noted that they would continue to crack down on operators who failed in that area.

The Brand Mr Green is owned 100% by Mr Green Ltd. That in turn is owned by the Swedish company Mr Green & Co AB (publ). Since May 2018 the whole concern goes by the name MRG Group and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm as of November 30^th, 2016.

Mr Green Ltd has its operational offices, doing the important work such as customer support, CRM, payments and all forms of marketing, located on the sunny island of Malta.The company is run by CEO Patrick Jonker.

Group technical developments in Stockholm

Since the end of 2017 Mr Green’s Technical development team Mr Green Technology AB – MRG Gametek – is located in an innovative environment in Stockholm. The building, known as Stockholm’s first digital innovation house is called epicenter and is located on Mäster Samuelsgatan 36.

The technical department consists of over 110 developers under the guidance of Mattias Wedar. Their main focus is implementing and developing the business plan for Mr Green 2.0 as well as an intensified development of Mr Greens platform for casino- and sports betting while still maintaining the focus on customer responsibility.

MRG Group’s decision-making body, led by CEO Per Norman, is also located on Mäster Samuelsgatan.

The Danish bingo site Bingosjov has been up and running since 2008 and was acquired by MRG in 2017. Bingosjov is monitored by the Danish gambling authority “Spillemyndigheten”, and has in recent years opened itself up to more casino games. It presently offers over 500 slot games from 15 different suppliers.

Mr Green Casino Online

Bingoslottet is another online gaming site acquired by MRG Group during 2017. The site has since long been a favorite among Danish online bingo players.

During 2018 MRG Group Acquired MamaMia Bingo when buying Evoke Gaming AB. The site is slick and is popular with Swedish and Nordic people who enjoy bingo. Thanks to early exposure in media Vinnarum has become a recognisable casino brand in Sweden. The Brand was acquired in January 2018 when MRG Group bought Evoke Media AB. The brand is now also recognised in different countries such as Germany (WinningRoom), England (WinningRoom), Norway (Vinnarum) and Finland (Vinneri).
